Priory gardens is lovely and special. Orpington has good public transport links, when everything is functioning normally. The town centre is also walking distance from many homes.

What aspects of the town centre do you think are integral to the character of the area?

Leisure centre with swimming etc, library and other community spaces.

Are there particular areas within the town centre that have a specific character that particularly warrants further guidance?

More greenery please - what few plants there are are very formal and in huge concrete containers. The feel of orpington town centre is not really the most aesthectic and i think some nice green spaces and some pedestrianised sections would improve the overall appeal and make it somewhere you want to spend time, rather than get in get what you need and leave.

It offers a mix of cafes, restaurants, entertainment, leisure and retail.

The "old" part - the Broomhill Road environs, The Priory and area around the parish church.

Reducing traffic, safety of cyclists and pedestrians, introduction of trees and green areas to enhance air quality should underpin any plans.

What is special/unique about Orpington Town Centre?

When I think of Orpington town centre, I think of the buildings in the high street. They’re largely of uniform height, with the NatWest, White Hart pub, former Post Office and mock Tudor buildings being particularly special. The other important part of what makes Orpington special is the Priory, and the Priory gardens. We’re lucky to have them

The Priory and the Priory gardens, which are central to Orpington. The flowers in the high street during summer are also character defining.

Are there particular areas within the town centre that have a specific character that particularly warrants further guidance?

The buildings in the high street are largely of uniform height, this is something that should be preserved.

Do you have any other comments in relation to development opportunities in Orpington Town Centre?

The high-street is long, and there are a number of long term vacant shops. Mixed-use developments would enable the high street is to survive as more people shop online and work from home.
