Pedestrianization of the town centre would discourage people form driving, improved cycle lanes and safe and easily accessible cycle parking - separated from traffic - would encourage many of us to get on our bikes, my family being a part of that.

As above, put appropriate infrastructure in place to allow for active travel. Pedestrianization of the town centre would discourage people form driving, improved cycle lanes and safe and easily accessible cycle parking - separated from traffic - would encourage many of us to get on our bikes, my family being a part of that. Hugely improve the green infrastructure around the town centre to absorb fumes - green screens, increased trees, lots more planting and trees.

The council have to lead the way here - if you make it hard or unpleasant to walk/cycle then people will continue to use their cars as they do now. Improving the active travel infrastructure, especially cycle lanes, and reducing the access for cars would make a difference. This needs to be joined up across the borough really as cycle lanes need to form part of a network to be used properly.

Electric buses, electric cars (increased infrastructure for charging likely needed for this). Reduce traffic in general. Maybe hire bike racks at station and on high street for quick access to high street from station and about town. Better cycling infrastructure in general (cycle lanes from surrounding areas). Encourage car clubs (zip car) to area. As well as high street, something needs to be done about traffic volume on bypass by all the shopping parks (eg nugent). Domestic emissions- encourage changing heating systems, insulation, etc (grants, etc).
